槵觸神社は、天孫降臨の地と言われる高千穂(たかちほ)にあります。
鳥居の前が、無料駐車場になっています。

鳥居から少し歩くと、手水舎が見えてきます。
手水舎を近くから。綺麗な水が湛えられています。
手水舎の前にある石段を上っていくと、拝殿(はいでん)が見えてきます。
拝殿を正面から。御祭神は瓊瓊杵尊(ににぎ の みこと)です。
本殿を横から。槵觸神社は、本殿の裏にある槵觸山を神体山として信仰してきました。そして瓊瓊杵尊が降臨したのは、高千穂・槵觸山の槵觸岳とされています。
槵觸山の四皇子峰（しおうじ が みね）は、神武天皇と三人の兄が生まれ育った地とされています。
槵觸山には、パワースポットとして有名な、高天原遥拝所（たかまがはらようはいじょ）もあります。遥拝とは、遠く離れた所に礼拝する事を言います。
槵觸山は神漏岐山（かむろぎやま）と峰続きになっていて、今は探鳥コースとして整備されています。コースの先には元宮・荒立宮（あらたて の みや）があります。
