田辺川湯キャンプ場は、熊野本宮大社(くまの ほんぐう たいしゃ)まで自動車で約10分、熊野速玉大社(くまの はやたま たいしゃ)まで約40分、熊野那智大社(くまの なち たいしゃ)まで約一時間、熊野三山・奥宮と言われる玉置神社(たまきじんじゃ)まで約50分の位置にあるので、熊野詣(くまのもうで)のベースキャンプとして利用する事が出来ます。
田辺川湯キャンプ場から約40分、玉置神社から約30分の所に、道の駅・十津川郷(とつかわごう)があります。ここでは食事と足湯を楽しめます。
ここの食堂では、丸餅入りの「かちんそば」を楽しめます。魚の出汁と柚子の風味の組み合わせが素晴らしかったです。
キャンプ場の入口は、和歌山県道241号・静川請川線沿いにあります。
反対方向から来る時は、少々入口が分かり辛いかも知れません。
熊野川(くまのがわ)の支流、大塔川（おおとうがわ）にかかる鉄橋を渡ります。
鉄橋の先に受付があります。
料金表です。一泊だと大人一人700円、子供一人400円、自動車一台700円、バイク一台200円となっています。ソロの一泊は1400円になります。受付時間はAM8：00からです。
屋根がある建物は炊事場です。芝生サイトは直火厳禁なので、炊事場を利用するか、焚火台を使いましょう。
ウォシュレット機能つきの清潔なトイレと、ゴミ捨て場です。トイレの前は水場になっています。
芝生サイトの奥にも水場があります。
芝生サイトの奥は河原サイトになっています。ここは直火OKですが、石組みの竈(かまど)と炭は片付けて帰りましょう。
大塔川の清流です。ここも河原サイトなのでテントやタープを張る事が出来ますが、川の増水に注意しましょう。
拡張工事が行われて、鉄橋の下まで河原サイトになりました。
夜になると、満天の星空を楽しめます。
田辺川湯キャンプ場の近くには、河原を掘るだけで温泉が湧き出る川湯温泉(かわゆ おんせん)があります。
大塔川の河原には、他人が掘ったプライベートな温泉が放置されています。毎年12月から２月の末まで、仙人風呂(せんにんぶろ)と呼ばれる巨大な露天風呂が出現します。
地元の人も利用する格安の浴場もあります。営業時間はAM6：00～PM8：00で、料金は大人一人250円です。据え置きの石鹸やシャンプーは無いので、自分で持っていきましょう。
建物の手前に駐車する事も出来ますが、仙人風呂用の無料駐車場が通年で解放されているので、そこを利用する事も出来ます。
