摩周湖は、日本最大のカルデラ湖と言われる屈斜路湖(くっしゃろこ)から、約32ｋｍ離れた所にあります。
摩周湖の駐車場です。
摩周湖は世界で二番目に水の透明度が高い事で知られています。また、1966年に「霧の摩周湖」という歌が大ヒットしたおかげで、地形的に霧が多い事でも知られるようになりました。
摩周湖のパノラマ写真です。右側にある大きな山は、摩周岳(ましゅう だけ)や、カムイヌプリと呼ばれています。
摩周湖では、夏に数回だけ滝霧(たきぎり)という現象を見る事が出来ます。
