Part1からの続きです。
まずは入口から修行場に入ります。
修行場の入口から少し歩いた所に、弘法大師・空海(こうぼうだいし・くうかい)の石像があります。
石像の隣に石段があり、その先には大師堂(だいし どう)があります。しかし、この石段は下り専門なので、上る事は出来ません。
石段の前に、拝観ルートを説明する看板があります。大師堂は一番最後になっているので、とりあえず先に進みます。奥に見える建物は正月堂(しょうがつ どう)です。
本堂の前に笠置石(かさぎ いし)があります。第40代・天武天皇(てんむ てんのう)が即位する前に狩猟の為にこの地を訪れ、この岸壁に弥勒菩薩(みろく ぼさつ)の姿を刻むと決めて、その目印となるように石の上に笠を置いたという伝説があります。
笠置寺の御本尊は摩崖仏(まがいぶつ)の弥勒菩薩ですが、戦火で岩肌を焼かれた際に剥がれ落ちてしまったそうです。摩崖仏の隣に、本堂の正月堂があります。
正月堂の中に、摩崖仏のイメージ像があります。
正月堂は、奈良県・東大寺の二月堂(にがつ どう)で行われる「お水取り」発祥の地です。どちらの本堂も急斜面の上にあり、懸造り(かけづくり)と呼ばれる特殊な工法で建築されています。
正月堂の先に、千手窟(せんじゅ くつ)があります。東大寺の僧侶がこの場所で悔過(けか)と呼ばれる行法を編み出して、その修行法が東大寺でも行われるようになったのが「お水取り」です。
千手窟の近くに、1000年以上前に彫刻された虚空蔵菩薩(こくうぞう ぼさつ)の摩崖仏があります。
摩崖仏から少し離れた所に、行場のスタート地点である「胎内くぐり」があります。修行者はこの岩窟を母胎に見立て、潜り抜ける事で心身を清めます。
胎内くぐりの先は、奇石や巨岩でいっぱいです。
この巨石は叩くと太鼓を叩くような音がするので、太鼓石(たいこ いし)と呼ばれています。
太鼓石を潜った先には、揺るぎ石(ゆるぎいし)があります。岩盤の上に石が載っていて人の力でも動かす事が出来るので、そう呼ばれるようになりました。
揺るぎ石の先に、平等石(びょうどう いし)と呼ばれる巨岩があります。
平等石から木津川(きづかわ)を望みます。ここで見る雲海は最高です。
平等石の先に、蟻の戸渡り(あり の とわたり)と呼ばれる難所があります。狭くて斜めになっている場所なので、服が汚れないようにするのは困難です。
蟻の戸渡りの先に、二の丸広場があります。
二の丸広場から少し歩くと、道が左右に分かれます。まずは右の方に行ってみましょう。
少し歩くと、貝吹き岩(かい ふき いわ)が見えてきます。修験の行者がこの岩の上に乗り、ほら貝を吹いていた事から、そう呼ばれるようになりました。
貝吹き岩からJR笠置駅と、関西キャンパーの聖地と名高い笠置キャンプ場を望みます。
貝吹き岩から少し歩いた所に、第96代・後醍醐天皇(ごだいご てんのう)の行在所(あんざいしょ)があります。行在所とは、仮の住処という意味です。
後醍醐帝は笠置山に籠城して当時の政権と戦いましたが、その後、吉野山・金峯山寺(よしのさん・きんぷせんじ)の近くにある吉水神社(よしみず じんじゃ)に皇居(こうきょ)を作り、南朝(なんちょう)を開きました。
行在所から少し歩いた所に、大師堂があります。堂内では弘法大師・空海の石仏を安置しています。大師堂の階段を降りると、行場を一周した事になります。
笠置山は、奈良、京都、三重の県境にあり、古来より交通の要衝とされてきました。ここから約１０㎞離れた所に、平城京から遷都された恭仁京(くに きょう)が開かれたのも、当時はそれだけ重要な土地だったからです。
